Travel and Accomodations
Travel Details
The best way to get to Santa Barbara is to fly to Santa Barbara Municipal Airport (SBA), which is 7 miles from downtown Santa Barbara where the conference will be hosted. This airport is regional, so unless you are in the western United States you will likely need to transfer. The other option would be to fly to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and then rent a car or take a shuttle like the SB Airbus. This second option may be cheaper but will require a few hours of driving.
Within Santa Barbara the conference is being held at the Hilton Beachfront Santa Barbara, which is a 15-20 minute walk from State Street, where you can find restaurants, wineries, and other activities. If you want to explore the Santa Barbara area we would recommend renting a car or using Uber/Lyft.
Hotel Information
There is a block at the Hilton Beachfront Santa Barbara. Spaces are somewhat limited so we suggest booking once you’ve registered for the conference. There are a number of other hotels in downtown Santa Barbara at various price points that would also be viable options.
Activities
Beyond eating and drinking, there are a number of activities in Santa Barbara when not at the conference. There are a number of beautiful hiking trails in the area, including Seven Falls, Inspiration Point, and Lizard’s Mouth. Please do some research before going hiking so you are appropriately prepared for the level of difficulty. For those with younger children, MOXI is a great science museum to help inspire our next generation of quantum error correction researchers, as well as the Santa Barbara Zoo or the Santa Barbara pier, which is only a short walk from the conference center. Lastly, the beach is only a few feet from the conference hotel, so we hope everyone gets to enjoy the sun and sand at some point during the week!
